Proceeding of first international Jean Françaix music competition
4, 5 and 6 April 1998

The piano Competition took place on the 4th of April. There were ten candidates of very different nationalities: France, Italy, Spain, Nicaragua, Japan, Canada, Torquay.
The jury was composed of !

- Mr Jean-Louis Beydon, chairman
- Mrs Claude Françaix, composer's daughter
- Mr Aquiles Delle Vigne, pianist
- Mr Gilles Berard, pianiste

1st Prize :

The alto Competition took place on the 5th of April. There were forteen candidates of very different nationalities ( France, Russia, Hungary, Taiwan, Japan)
The jury was composed :
- Mr Alfred Herzog, chairman and Director of CNR de Boulogne.
- Mrs Claude Françaix, composer's daughter.
- Mrs Françoise Gneri, altiste
- M.rJean-Baptiste Brunier, altiste
- Mr Bruno Pasquier, altiste
1st Prize ex æquo :
Mrs Agathe Blondel (France) / agathe.blondel@libertysurf.fr and Mr Vincent Aucante (France)
3rd Prize :
M. Igor Budinstein (Russia)
In each discipline, the jury expressed its satisfaction with the very high level of the candidates, and consequently with the competition. For example, the first two viola prizes were at the time of the competition in the advanced cycle at the CNSM in Paris. The third prize is the solo viola of the Berlin Radio Orchestra and a replacement for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
